Many model boats in the Northeast of England like the ones shown on the left use the now legendary 34cc JAP 2 stroke engine manufactured by J.A.Prestwich, nicknamed the "Grass Cutter". It's a reliable workhorse with surprising power and grunt.

This engine is no longer made but many are still giving faithfull service. Should you find yourself the proud owner of one of these engines then you will need a copy of the Owners Manual. This copy dates from June 1961.
